Dreams in Progress

Goal-Getter: Family Time, Sports, and Making Memories

As I sit back and reflect on my life outside of work, the moments that truly define happiness for me revolve around my family and the simple joys we share together. From kicking a soccer ball around in our backyard to spending time at a lake or casting lines into the water, hoping for a bite. Growing up in Dodge City, sports were always a big part of my life, though soccer wasn't initially among them. Now, seeing my son's passion for the game ignites a newfound enthusiasm in me.

My son's dream of becoming a professional soccer player fuels our shared hours practicing each week. These are the memories I cherish most—moments where time slows down, and the only focus is on the joy of being together.

Even beyond our soccer practices, our family time revolves around creating lasting memories. Whether it's our adventures with Blue, our beloved Aussie pet who greets everyone with boundless affection (except the UPS guy in his brown uniform, for reasons unknown), or attending sporting events like those of Sporting KC, where the energy of the crowd becomes infectious.

Sports have always been a significant part of my life, from my longtime support of the Chiefs through their ups and downs, to my dream of experiencing the excitement of a European soccer match firsthand.

That passion for sports has also influenced my career in IT. After gaining valuable experience in Kansas City, I returned to southern Kansas to work at Century, drawn by the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally in a familiar environment.

At Century, I've found more than just a job; I've found a community where adaptability and dedication are key. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, reinforcing the importance of staying agile in a rapidly changing industry. It's a place where I've felt welcomed since day one, supported by colleagues who share my drive to deliver top-notch solutions and make a meaningful impact.

Looking ahead, I see endless possibilities to continue growing, both within my career and as a person. My goal is to someday start my own business, and the experiences and connections I'm building at Century are invaluable steps toward that future.

In the end, it's not just about the work I do, but the values I uphold—family, dedication, and a passion for learning—that shape my journey. Going back and looking at how things have worked out, I wish that I had initially held a rock-solid habit that was strict and allowed me to work quickly but catch all the necessary details. Doing this would have allowed for continuous growth in every aspect of my career.
